Haiku seems to be all the rage on many of the blogs I visit. I haven't personally written haiku since high school but I thought I would give it a whirl in honor of my seventh wedding anniversary today to my dear husband, Steve. For those who might not recall or be familiar with it, the definition of haiku is an unrhymed verse form of Japanese origin having three lines containing usually five, seven, and five syllables respectively.
Here's my best attempt. If it's not up to par, at least it was written with love.
Seven years ago
I married a man who brings
such joy to my life.
He loved my daughters
right from the start and never
made me doubt our love.
He is smart and kind,
always there when I need him
with an open heart.
He works very hard
but always makes time for us.
Family comes first.
Seven years ago,
vows were shared in Jamaica
with family there.
Just one year later
we welcomed our son Theo,
our love’s precious gift.
His instincts as father
are gentle, patient and true.
A father-son bond.
The girls adore him,
think he can fix anything.
Their beloved Pop.
We share a passion.
He understands me and he
always supports me.
The rough spots are rare.
We communicate so well,
blessed beyond measure.
He is what I need.
I am grateful for his love
and our partnership.
My husband, my friend,
my partner in parenting.
Sharing hopes and dreams.
You are what I want.
I look forward to every
adventure with you.
My darling Steven,
Happy Anniversary.
I love you so much.

Happy Anniversary! You are both blessed to have found one another. Kelyy used her talent to write by creating this lovely Haiku, now Steve needs to use his talent and build something for the house! Hope you had a wonderful day.
